Commissioning better care for people with dementia Commissioning is the way in which local authorities and Primary Care Trusts work with their local populations and partners to shape local services to meet local needs.

In the context of Putting People First and Commissioning framework for dementia, commissioning better care for people with dementia places a much stronger emphasis on understanding the choices that service users and carers want to make, as well as a greater focus on supporting people to achieve the outcomes they want.
