Making involvement count
The South West Dementia Partnership has commissioned the Alzheimer’s Society to work with communities to improve local engagement with, and the involvement of people who have dementia and their families and carers.
After being unsuccessful in recruiting a project manager for user involvement first time around, the Alzheimer’s Society has now recruited a project manager two days a week for the next two years, and are hoping that she will be able to start in July. The postholder will work to set up a framework across the South West to ensure that users’ voices are heard and can be instrumental in shaping and influencing the delivery of services for people affected by dementia.
As a person with dementia commented:
“We’ve only got dementia – we’re not stupid and being involved helps us.”
We will announce the project manager’s name and contact details in future editions of this bulletin and on our website.
